Being diagnosed with a serious medical condition such as cancer is not an easy news to accept for anyone which is why an expert’s second opinion has increasingly become an important aspect of decision-making when it comes to treating a disease. Taking the next step of consulting a second opinion for oncology is the most logical option to avoid any chance of misdiagnosis as well as find other possible ways of getting a treatment.

A second medical opinion for oncology may also help patients learn about the type of cancer and its stage, a fresh perspective from other experts in other oncology disciplines and other details. In addition, a second opinion may provide new information for other types of treatment as well as possibilities of any clinical trials should it be available.

Dubai Health Experience (DXH) recently launched the Second Medical Opinion Program for six key specialties including Oncology as part of its continuing efforts to provide a wide array of medical services to health tourists.

American Hospital Dubai, one of the country’s leading healthcare facilities and a DXH Group member partner, is part of the ‘Second Opinion’ program offered on the DXH website. The American Hospital Dubai runs the Cancer care programs that are integrating quality patient care, education, research and collaboration with world leading hospitals like Mayo Clinic as a Mayo Clinic network member (MCCN).

The SMO program offered for the oncology services through the DXH website offers a comprehensive, integrated and multidisciplinary care model to provide free second medical opinion to international patients. The cases received under this program are reviewed and discussed within multidisciplinary teams served by physicians that are American Board-certified or their equivalent at the American Hospital Dubai. The hospital provides SMO in the areas of medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, breast care clinic, palliative care and pain, nutrition and health psychology.

Other DXH group members providing oncology services include, Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, Emirates Hospital Dubai, Mediclinic Hospital Dubai, NMC Hospital, Prime Hospital Dubai, Saudi German Hospital Dubai, and Zulekha Hospital.
