Health tourism in Dubai participates in roadshow Saudi Arabia in cooperation with Ministry of Economy
With an aim to raise awareness about Dubai’s continuing success as a leading health and wellness destination, Dubai Health Experience (DXH) participated in the ‘Visit UAE 2019’ roadshow organized by the UAE Ministry of Economy in the Riyadh, Al Khobar and Jeddah.
As part of the roadshow, DXH conducted seminars for travel and tourism companies in Saudi Arabia, in order to establish a robust source market in the Kingdom by raising awareness on the emirate’s medical expertise and health tourism capabilities. The number of medical and wellness tourists who come to Dubai from the Middle East and other GCC countries currently account for 33 per cent, followed by 30 per cent visitors from Asian countries and 16 per cent Europeans. Health tourists from KSA, Kuwait and Oman top the list, while tourists inflow from the Africa region is also recording steady growth.
Another major highlight of the roadshow was the introduction of the DXH website and its other digital tools before the Saudi audience, which is set to significantly contribute to awareness creation on the best-in-class wellness services that are available in the emirate of Dubai.
DXH’s participation in the Saudi Arabia roadshow becomes even more relevant in light of the latest figures and statistics on wellness travel. According to the Global Wellness Institute, both domestic and inbound wellness trips across MENA grew from 8.5 million in 2015 to 11 million 2017, resulting in the growth of revenues from USD 8.3 billion in 2015 to USD 11 billion during the same period. This is likely to rise by another 75 per cent to reach USD 18.7 billion by 2022, consolidating the UAE’s position on the global wellness tourism landscape. Besides, being big spenders, MENA travelers spend 44 per cent more on inbound wellness trips than the average traveler to the region.
DXH strives to enhance the emirate’s medical facilities and strengthen its position as a global medical and wellness tourism hub by collaborating with a number of government bodies, ensuring alignment and well-defined goals. DXH achieves this by streamlining DHA’s efforts to provide advanced and comprehensive healthcare services that promise healthier and happier experiences to all patients as well as medical tourists in the emirate of Dubai.
