Nabadat initiative receives Asian Hospital Management Award 19-11-2019 12:00 AM Share

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced that the Nabadat initiative won the Excellence Award in the Community Involvement category of the Asian Hospital Management Award after competing with 500 entries from 129 hospitals from 17 countries. Nabadat was honored during the Hospital Management Asia 2019 conference at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi, Vietnam, which was attended by more than 1,200 healthcare senior management representatives from all over Asia Pacific.

Nabadat, which means heartbeat in Arabic, is a programme launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity and Humanitarian Establishment (MBRCHE) in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to alleviate the suffering of impoverished children with congenital heart disease (CHD). The initiative, which is taking place under the patronage of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, provides free medical assistance, life-saving surgery and post-surgical care to children whose parents cannot afford to pay for treatment of congenital heart diseases (CHDs). Commenting on the win, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Director General of the DHA stressed that the Nabadat initiative, which was launched with the objective of saving the lives of children suffering from CHDs, has become one of the most impactful humanitarian initiatives launched internationally.

Al Qutami added that the initiative is being implemented by a specialized and experienced medical team and that the DHA spares no effort in supporting the team to bring back hope to the children who suffer from CHDs and their families. Al Qutami commended MBRCHE and stressed that the establishment has succeeded in marking its position on the international map as being a leading humanitarian establishment that helps those in need. Al Qutami said that the award is a testimony to the joint efforts of the Authority and MBRCHE, and a testimony to the great work exerted by the medical team, noting that the award will enhance the status of the initiative on the global medical and humanitarian arena.

The Nabadat Initiative has contributed to the treatment of more than 1,500 children with life-threatening heart abnormalities since 2007, through charity campaigns inside and outside the country, including Tajikistan, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Egypt, India, Morocco and Sudan in collaboration with MBRCHE. The initiative also succeeded in providing free diagnostic services to more than 5,000 children coming from underprivileged families.
